🌊 UNESCO World Heritage Wadden Sea
Just a few kilometres away, the Wadden Sea begins — one of the largest contiguous tidal areas in the world. Guided mudflat hikes depart regularly from Dangast and Eckwarderhörne.
🏖️ Dangast
The oldest North Sea resort on the Jade is just 5 km away. Beach, spa house, art gallery and the legendary harbour make Dangast the perfect day trip.
🚲 Cycling
The North Sea Coastal Cycle Route passes right by the harbour. The Jade Bay Round Tour (approx. 50 km) is one of the most beautiful cycling routes in Lower Saxony. E-bike rental available in Varel.
🦭 Seals & Nature
Seal banks in the Jade Bay, birdwatching in the National Park, the Dangast Moor and the Floating Moor Nature Trail offer nature experiences for the whole family.
🍽️ Restaurants & Cafés
There are several restaurants and cafés right at the harbour. Fresh fish, North German cuisine and coffee with harbour views — all within walking distance.
🏙️ Wilhelmshaven & Oldenburg
Wilhelmshaven (20 min.) with its Naval Museum and South Beach. Oldenburg (40 min.) with its old town, shopping and culture. Both cities are ideal rainy-day alternatives.
